THE CHARACTER

Character Name: James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser
Series: Outlander
Canon Point: 1x16. Before getting on the ship to sail to Paris.
Character Age: 23-24. Age is undetermined.
Background: How to Marry a Rude British Fucktruck. He's based on the television series, but most of the information remains the same. He was also here before where he met numerous people. He retains those memories (since I'm the player who played him before).

Personality: Though Jamie Fraser can easily be seen as a kind-hearted and gentle giant to those around him there is a side that lurks deep beneath the calm exterior. A storm that can rage so powerfully that he doesn't have full control over it himself. The easiest way to describe if would be to say that James Fraser has a highlander temper. It flares very boldly in stressful situations. Typically in battle or when a loved one is in danger. When he his sister is in danger and being assaulted by British soldiers he immediately takes to fighting them. Though it rears it's ugly head after rescuing Claire from the clutches of Black Jack Randall. Jamie lashes out, but despite being angry he immediately recoils in shame over his outburst. Admitting in a strange way that his outburst was primarily motivated by fear.

His loyalty runs bone deep. Some would say it's branded deep into his soul. Jamie is a Mackenzie and a Fraser. Which pulls him in different directions at times. This extends to all the people he considers to be his family and friends. He'd lay down his life for them. Often risking himself just to protect those he holds close. Though it's a little more intense for his wife. He walks right into a British garrison with no real weapons and an empty flintlock pistol to rescue her from the clutches of a sadistic man who had previously been responsible for his scarred back. Once Claire tells him of the fate of the Highlanders he becomes obsessed with ensuring their survival and wants to desperately stop the slaughter that will one day come. Despite all the issues he's had with Dougal in the past Jamie has never once thought to kill the man. Not until push comes to shove later on down the line. When his hand is forced.

James Fraser and the word stubborn do go hand in hand so nicely. He's like a mule. Usually though he finds his way or he's had some sense knocked into him. When he realizes he must punish Claire for putting them all in danger there's no backing down. Despite the fact that Jamie doesn't want to do it he feels he must. He's a Highlander and everything that they believe in is superstition or tradition. Something that's been done for years to come. It takes quite a long time for him to realize he must change his ways with Claire and adopt a new form with her. His stubbornness is very strong when he gets around his sister though. Both refusing to bend in any form until eventually it's inevitable.

Though Jamie is an educated man (sent to Paris to study) he is a fool when it comes to matters of the heart. A little naive in the ways of love. But as he explains not a monk either. He may be a touch charming and he has a way of talking to women that seems to give off a different impression. But the truth of the matter is that Jamie was a virgin until he married Claire. A virgin and very naive to the ways of how sex was done. Before Claire he thought it had to be done from the back like horses. Whatever smoothness he exhibits is really just Jamie's pleasant demeanor coming through.

One of the things people mention most about Jamie is that he's an easy going man. He's kind and tends to get along with others quite well. Though if you do somehow manage to cross him or his wife then you can expect that kindness to simply run out. Before he ever marries Claire, there's a moment when Dougal talks rather crassly about her and Jamie loses that calm head. Otherwise Jamie is rather pleasant. Despite what he's endured it's remarkable that he even has a sense of humor.

Right now Jamie is going through a difficult time. He was raped, his hand was mutilated and he was beaten by Black Jack Randall while in Wentworth. He was a prisoner and wound up being branded by Randall as well. He was rescued by Claire and others, but his spirit was extremely broken by then. His wife has talked him into living again, but he's still very broken. He will do his best to hide it from outsiders and try to overcompensate a lot by proving his fine. But a very brutal storm rages under the calm waters of his exterior.

Powers/Abilities: Jamie is completely human, but he's not without his abilities. He's an excellent swordsman able to wield them with both his right and left hand. He's proficient with other bladed weapons as well. He knows how to use pistols and guns in general from his time period. In the future he becomes a rather prominent figure in the uprising and battle strategy. As an educated man Jamie is able to speak multiple languages with ease. So far in the show he speaks Gaelic, English, French and Latin. But it's suspected he knows German, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Hebrew, Tuscaroran and a little Chinese as well. But all in all Jamie is a Highlander. He's a survivor. He has mad survival skills. He can could survive out in the middle of nowhere with a knife and a kilt. He's excellent on horseback and tended to the stables where he lived often. Horses are his people.

Incentives: Jamie is very easy to get to cooperate if it means safety for Claire and the people he loves. He's given up quite a bit to keep them safe. Including pieces of himself. Inside and out. He loves them. After Black Jack's assault against him he would likely be fine with being back here.
